I will be available for parent/teacher conferences at Heritage on Wednesday, February 18.
The English Language Learners are currently taking the Ohio Test of English Language Acquisition. This test will help determine language proficiency levels for next school year. ELL pull outs will resume once testing is completed. There will be no school November 26, 27, and 28. Enjoy your family time!! The 4th grade students created a poster about "theme" to share with their class. They included common themes on their poster. They have been working on finding the theme from text. In kindergarten ELL we worked on learning our letters and the sounds the letters make. We are making an ABC book. This week we discussed the three types of punctuation: the period, question mark, and exclamation mark. We wrote sentences in our journals using the different kinds of punctuation. Our read aloud was "Exclamation Mark" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal & Tom Lichtenheld. The read aloud book this week for 3rd and 4th grade students was "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds. We used this book to discuss theme and summarized what we read using question words. A question you could ask your child is: What was the authors theme in "The Dot?" I will be at Heritage for P/T conferences on Thursday, Sept. 25.
